2009 AL Gold Glove Winners
The nine American League Rawlings Gold Glove winners were announced today, and not surprisingly, a few didn’t deserve the nod.
2009 AL Gold Glove winners
| Position | Player | Team |
|---|---|---|
| C | Joe Mauer | Minnesota Twins |
| 1B | Mark Teixeira | New York Yankees |
| 2B | Placido Polanco | Detroit Tigers |
| 3B | Evan Longoria | Tampa Bay Rays |

| OF | Torii Hunter | Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim |
| OF | Adam Jones | Baltimore Orioles |
| OF | Ichiro Suzuki | Seattle Mariners |

Hunter and Ichiro lead the winners by taking home their 9th of such award. This is Jeter’s 4th (How is that even possible?). The biggest omission was Seattle Mariners‘ outfielder Franklin Gutierrez, who had an outstanding defensive season. If you want to know who really deserved the awards, check out yesterday’s post.
