2009 AL Gold Glove Winners

Johnny @ 8:13 pm — Filed under: News

The nine American League Rawlings Gold Glove winners were announced today, and not surprisingly, a few didn’t deserve the nod.

2009 AL Gold Glove winners
Position Player Team
C Joe Mauer Minnesota Twins
1B Mark Teixeira New York Yankees
2B Placido Polanco Detroit Tigers
3B Evan Longoria Tampa Bay Rays
SS Derek Jeter New York Yankees
OF Torii Hunter Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
OF Adam Jones Baltimore Orioles
OF Ichiro Suzuki Seattle Mariners
P Mark Buehrle Chicago White Sox

Hunter and Ichiro lead the winners by taking home their 9th of such award. This is Jeter’s 4th (How is that even possible?). The biggest omission was Seattle Mariners outfielder Franklin Gutierrez, who had an outstanding defensive season. If you want to know who really deserved the awards, check out yesterday’s post.
